Our first birthday as a married couple!

Yesterday Jonathan celebrated his plenty-9th birthday! No work for him--instead he baked brownies and came over to visit Amanda and her class. While there he was asked by a thoughtful child, "how come you don't have kids yet?" Jonathan replied, "she has 19 of you."

Later we went out to dinner to Patois, a favorite restaurant of ours. We love their mussels--and they did not disappoint! Much to Jonathan's (slight) discomfort the waitress and Amanda sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Otherwise a very low key birthday, just what Jonathan wanted.

We came home to see Lars and the Real Girl. We both loved it immensely. It's sweet and heartbreaking and just simply lovely. The acting in it was sometimes breathtaking, we just love Ryan Gosling and adore Patricia Clarkson.

Today we're busy planning for tomorrow's picnic!

Celebrate good times, come on!

We inch ever closer to our 1/2 year anniversary this Sunday! But before that Jonathan turns Plenty Nine tomorrow! Happy Birthday sweetness head!

Can't wait to see you under our tree with a red ribbon tied around it!

We have unedited footage from the wedding. It looks like we all had a good time. Thank goodness. We need to cut some things out but it's hard to decide what that will be. How do you cut a dancing good time? It needs to be done though.

Our tree

We're deciding right now on what kind of tree we are going adopt. Some friends decided to give us a tree for a wedding gift and today we went around Prospect Park in search of White Oaks, which are just gorgeously tall and strong, but we may possibly get a catalpa tree instead. The location of the catalpa tree is just as you're entering from Grand Army Plaza and it has interesting pods hanging from it (Indian beans) and heart shaped leaves. It's a medium sized tree as compared to an Oak and this particular catalpa has an old wound that the tree itself is healing and growing over. The idea that it's gone through a rough patch and continues to thrive is appealing. But the beauty of the White Oak still makes it a strong contender.

Whichever tree we do choose though, we're going to have a tree celebration and a jubilee to recognize half a year as Mr. and Mrs. E on June 1st. So, mark your calendars for a picnic in the park!

Mystery Actor Revealed

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

And the actor we saw at Macbeth who's name we couldn't figure out is (drum roll): JAY O. SANDERS! We looked him up on iMDB after Amanda realized we saw him last sumer at Shakespeare in the Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Phew.

So...let's recap: Patrick Stewart, Sigourney Weaver, and Jay O. Sanders. Is it possible we also saw Kevin Spacey or Parker Posey? We're not telling.

Other ideas are mentioned in this post BUT the main idea: Patrick Stewart is phenomenal, galvanizing, awe-inspiring and yes, deserves to be worshipped

Still working on our wedding DVD. We just haven't gotten our act together--we just sent our baby pictures to our videographer. Hopefully we'll get to see our wedding come to life sometime in our first year of marriage.

We saw Macbeth last night and my god, Patrick Stewart is good. The whole production really. It's in your face, bombastic, creepy, grimy and just a plain fantastic good time. And again, Patrick Stewart is amazing.
In the audience we saw (Jonathan spotted her first) Sigourney Weaver and another actor who we can't put a name to. Amanda thought he was the actor who played the best friend to Truman in the Truman Show but checked it out and in fact, she was wrong. (there's got to be a first time) It's going to come to us one day and it's going to feel so good to have that finally put to bed.

We both can't stand Daylight Savings time. It's freaking us out--lack of sleep, too much sun; it's confusing and damn does it make us tired. Is it winter, is it spring?! Is it cold, is it warm? Are we healthy, are we not? Not unfortunately.

Our next big event...besides Caitlin and Billy's wedding of course, sleeping in this weekend! Yay sleep!

Happy belated birthday Lady of Sanity!
Happy trip to South Africa Lady of Laughter!
Happy birthday Groovy Groomsman!

Take the "woohoos" with the "ehs" (or take the good with the bad)

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. We have dinner and a classic movie (His Girl Friday) planned for it but for right now...

I think it's raining outside, but it's hard to tell with our windows. Our windows face other apartments and can be quite dreary. Not being able to see the street throws these city eyes off balance. We can just hear the traffic and guess, if the wheels sound like they're hitting wet pavement then chances are it is raining. But wait a minute, oh yes, it is raining, pretty hard actually. Really heavy rain, I guess, shows up well against the red brick that faces our window.

One of us is home sick and the other one wishes he was.

We bought these magnificent yellow and red splattered tulips a few days ago that are drooping right now in the most romantic of ways. Most of them fully open with the promise of lasting only a few more days, that welcome of death that only beauteous things of nature can produce. You know, that blaze of glory right before the sun sets or the brightness of a leaf right before it falls in autumn. I want to always have glorious flowers overflowing in our house.

Fink is wheezing as she lies perched on our kitchen table. Suppose she has a cold too. That makes three in this household.

The 15" beagle won in the Westminster Dog Show yesterday. It was our first Dog Show we've missed in several years. Check out the cuteness of Uno, the winner:

It's the first time a beagle has won the Dog Show. Doesn't sway us from our desire to adopt a bulldog though, just so you know. A list of potential breeders should be on its way. Yay!

And it's still raining out.

They're coming

More pictures are on their way.  There are some great shots but there are a few of Amanda getting ready and looks a little naked, just a little, (and no she's really not),  but they're not for everyone's eyes.  For now live with the memories you have of the night, look at the pictures that are below and smile along with us as we approach our 2nd month anniversary.  Happy Anniversary to the Lady and Lord of Sanity, one whole YEAR for them!  WooHoo!

Honeymoon==>Name Change==>mr. and mrs. e

We're back from Belize and it was wonderful. We met wonderful people and wondrous animals, and just plain had a good time enjoying ourselves.

As soon as we got back we started the process of changing Amanda's last name. So far it hasn't been too bad--lines to wait on of course but, hey, that's okay. It'll be nice when we're officially mr. and mrs. e (as Amanda likes to sign emails now).
